Course Description

Students concurrently enrolled in TH 665, Student Teaching Practicum, also attend this weekly seminar to explore issues, resources, questions, problems, and solutions to the teaching/learning challenges they are facing in their practicum experience. Topics pertinent to beginning teachers, including classroom management strategies and curriculum and lesson plan development are explored. Students reflect on their teaching experiences and critically examine their current and future roles as classroom instructors. Students will understand the need for a community of teachers and gain a sense of confidence about their teaching skills. Prerequisite: Permission of the Theatre Education Program Director. Co-requisite: TH665.

Prerequisites

Co-requisite: TH665 Student Teaching Practicum must be taken at the same time.

Enrollment in this course is restricted to alums who completed Emerson's theatre education degree coursework and are thus eligible to enroll in Student Teaching Seminar and Practicum courses

Classes will not be held the week of March 10-14 during spring break

This course is delivered 100% online in a Synchronous learning format. You should reserve the meeting days and times listed for live class meetings via Zoom, but there will also be work to complete on your own outside of these hours. Synchronous courses utilize Zoom for live sessions and a learning platform called Canvas for course materials and assignments. Students are responsible for logging into Canvas, attending scheduled Zoom sessions, managing their time and completing the course requirements by the scheduled due dates. The course syllabus, materials, and zoom links will be provided to enrolled students via Canvas, or email from your instructor to your Emerson email account no later than the first date of your course.
