Course Description
"Covers various topics in the aesthetics of contemporary theatre with particular focus on the history, theory, and criticism of selected contemporary performers and directors, such as Robert Wilson, Richard Foreman, Anne Bogart, Tadeusz Kantor, Jerzy Grotowski, Peter Brook, Julie Taymor, and Tadashi Suzuki, and groups such as Open Theatre, Living Theatre, and Mabou Mines. May be repeated for credit if topics differ. Prerequisite: junior standing. Fulfills the Aesthetic Perspective of the General Education requirements."

Section 003: Contemporary U.S. Theatre
Various topics in the aesthetics of contemporary U.S. theatre with particular focus on the history, theory, and criticism of selected dramatists, directors, designers, and theatre companies. The course will also cover some of the major artistic innovations in U.S. theatre, such as Theatre of Chance, Absurdist Theatre, the Theatre of Cruelty, Actos and Epic Theatre, Performance Art, Intercultural Theatre, and Documentary Theatre. Fulfills the Aesthetic Perspective of the General Education requirements.
Section 004: The Future of Theatre
