Course Description

This course equips leaders with the strategic frameworks, digital fluency, and practical experience needed to prevent crises, manage them effectively when they occur, and build organizational cultures that reduce risk over the long term. Designed for experienced professionals, the course blends academic rigor with real-world practice. Participants will be exposed to evidence-based frameworks grounded in crisis communication research. They will engage in simulations, media training, and scenario-based exercises.

Course Format

This course is delivered in a live, online, and synchronous learning format. Participants are expected to be present and engaged for the complete course session schedule, noting that some additional work may be involved outside of live sessions. Synchronous courses utilize Zoom for live sessions and a learning platform called Canvas for course materials and assignments. Students are responsible for logging into Canvas, attending scheduled Zoom sessions, managing their time, and completing the course requirements. Course overview, materials, and Zoom links will be provided to enrolled students via Canvas or email from the course trainer(s) to your Emerson email account no later than the first date of your course.

Requirements

Prospective participants should be at least 18 years of age and must submit a complete application to be considered for enrollment in this course. Admitted participants should review any course-specific requirements (e.g., computer, internet access for live, online courses) prior to course enrollment.
