Course Description

More than 5 billion people use social media each month. This enormous reach makes social media an effective marketing tool – if it is designed and implemented as part of the organization’s marketing strategy. This course will lead you through the creation of a social media strategy and the specifics of how to make it effective in converting prospects into customers.

The course focuses on the alignment of a social media marketing strategy with the organization’s overall marketing strategy. You will build expertise in the identification of a target market, the establishment of goals and KPIs, (Key Performance Indicators) and the design of a social media campaign to accomplish those goals.

Learner Outcomes

The Social Media Marketing course enables students to

  • Identify the target market and design a social media strategy specific for that target group
  • Select the social media platform that best aligns with the target customers
  • Set specific, measurable goals for each social platform selected
  • Evaluate and create content leading to conversions
  • Track the KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and make adjustments to achieve conversions

This course is offered 100% online via asynchronous delivery spanning 4 weeks. Students should anticipate spending 4-6 hours per week to complete required exercises and assignments.

This course is delivered through our online learning platform called Canvas. Generally there are no set class meeting days or times for online asynchronous courses, but students are responsible for logging into Canvas, managing their time and completing the course requirements by the scheduled weekly due dates. The instructor will be available online via Canvas / email or scheduled appointment for questions.
